Here's where you can post resources or links to other resources which filmmakers might find useful but don't fit into any other category.

Links to sites containing free 3D objects

Postby fredthorsen » Mon Jan 29, 2007 2:30 am

Just wanted to kickstart a little activity in this underused section...

Here are some very useful websites I have found which contain many useable 3D objects, many of which are free. (Note that it does require knowing how to convert them to a format compatible with FrameForge; for example, using the program Art of Illusion, described on page 151 of the FF manual.)

Hope you find these useful~

Come in all categories, weapons, ships, vehicle's, plants, space, architecture, and many more.

Only download those that come with textures which will convert with AcuTrans or whatever 3d modeler you use to convert to wrl for FF

Exactly how do you convert the object to a frameforge compatible format?

It would be really useful if someone could just outline the basics of using Art of Illusion to convert a free object downloaded from the internet to a FF object.

This would benefit those like me who are just looking for a source of more objects.

Just the basics of file formats, textures, sizing etc.

Any help appreciated...
