TheFilmSchool Presents Free Hands-On FrameForge 3D Workshop at Seattle International Film Festival

TheFilmSchool is proud to present, Exploring FrameForge 3D, a free hands-on workshop featuring the premiere of FrameForge Previz Studio 3 at the 35th Seattle International Film Festival’s Digital Media Lab in the Alki Room at the Seattle Center on Saturday May 30 12:00pm.

FrameForge Previz Studio 3 is the program that's redefining storyboarding and previsualization. Ken Schafer, lead developer and creator of FrameForge 3D, will demo how every filmmaker can benefit from taking a script to an easy and affordable optically accurate previsualization. FrameForge, a 3D pre-visualization platform with an incredibly intuitive interface and phenomenal flexibility, allows the user to create a three-dimensional scale location complete with actors, props, wardrobe, set dressing, basic lighting and backgrounds. You can then move through that world with virtual cameras to generate specific storyboards.

FrameForge Pre-viz Studio 3 works with both Screenwriter & Final Draft scriptwriting programs to explore and discover shot possibilities BEFORE you go on location. The new version three adds additional functions that include sun tracking, lighting placement, and stereoscopic previsualization.

The workshop is free but ticketed reservations are available through the SIFF Box Office, www.siff.net. Computer seating is limited but extra seating will be available.

Dimension 3 (www.dimensions3-expo.com)
Paris, France -- June 2-3, 2009

Ken Schafer, Lead Program Architect at California based Innoventive Software, will present an exclusive first look at the new Stereographic Previsualization capabilities of FrameForge FrameForge Previz Studio 3 at Dimension 3 in Paris on June 2nd. He'll be speaking at the panel on Tuesday 2 June - 11.15 am / 12.30 pm What’s new in filming techniques – Part 2 and will be giving a full demo of the program in the "Atelier Pro" section on Wednesday June 3 from 3:15 to 4:00pm. There will also be ongoing demos during the expo at the booth Innoventive Software is sharing with Parallell Cinéma on the Expo Floor.

Due to ship in June 2009, this program will transform the pre-production of live action stereo shoots by giving filmmakers a photo-accurate virtual “soundstage” in their computer, complete with over 1,300 World Ready™ objects to build any interior or exterior set or location.

Using a special module designed specifically for stereo pre-production, FrameForge Previz Studio offers customizable virtual stereo rigs that can be matched to the capabilities and limitations of any stereo rig or camera. These virtual rigs allow the filmmaker to work out their shot and depth planning in real-time stereo, helping them to identify and solve problems in the pre-production stage rather than on set. Additional stereo capabilities include:

* Full interaxial and convergence control with or without automatic keystone correction
* Learn any object’s distance and parallax simply by clicking on it
* Enter a desired parallax, and have your rig’s interaxial or convergence automatically adjusted to produce that parallax at a specific distance
* View parallax reports of all visible objects in any given shot, with out-of-range warnings for positive parallax over 2.5” / 6,5 cm based on any target screen size
* Generate stereo animation/animatics at full HD resolution in a variety of formats, including anaglyph, left-right, top-bottom and individual screens
* Generate printed storyboard output in anaglyph format with all camera information, including height, focal length, convergence, interaxial and angle of view in addition to an optional overhead set layout to clarify camera and lighting positions
* So easy to use, it was nominated for a prestigious O’Reilly “Flow Award”, honoring technology that supports creative flow

Fox's "On the Lot" Winner Uses FrameForge 3D Studio

Los Angeles, CA -- August 31, 2007

FrameForge 3D Studio user Will Bigham won best director honors on the Fox reality television series "On the Lot." In fact, three of the top ten finalists, Will Bigham, Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, previsualized their short films with our storyboard software.

These young directors faced incredible pressure as they shot a different original short film every other week. FrameForge 3D's advanced previsualization and storyboarding features helped the finalists to preview and refine their creative projects. FrameForge 3D is the only storyboarding software that allows users to see exactly what their camera and lens collection will produce before shooting live.

Executive Producer of "On the Lot," David Goffin, was impressed: "Glad you can be a part of making these filmmakers achieve their dreams. The software is great." Andrew Frank, the Supervising Producer, added, "I look forward to using it for my television shoots!"

Congratulations to Will from all at FrameForge 3D Studio!

Star Circle Wins Best Suspense Short Film at NYIIFV Festival

From Digital Media Net Interview:

DMN: It is said that Samaritan was conceived to demonstrate the studio's belief in making a good film in look and story in a cost effective manner. Obviously previsualization played a major role when setting up shots. You mention the use of Frame Forge 3D Studio. How flexible was the software and how did it help you to achieve your goals?
Kimball Carr(Star Circle Pictures): FrameForge 3D was instrumental in the creation of Samaritan and sped up the process of creating renderings to represent each shot in the film. The software proved useful due to its responsiveness and fairly user friendly interface. For basic blocking, camera angles and even sequencing the final cut of the picture, which benefited a low shooting ratio, the package was quite good. Star Circle Pictures will continue to push the envelope with its next project in terms of blurring the line of pre production, production and post, and part of this continued innovation will be greater use of previsualization methods and tools.   FrameForge Macintosh version now Universal Binary!

FrameForge 3D Studio 2 for Mac now runs natively (i.e. equally fast!) on both the Intel and PowerPC platforms. Mac users owning or planning to purchase the new "Intel" Mac are rightly concerned how well their software will work on these new computers and FrameForge will not be holding them back! Minimum system requirement is OS 10.3.9 or higher.

Only WebGrab-FF2 version 6.0.1 allows registered users of FF3D Version 2 to update the program code to Universal Binary. Again, this free update REQUIRES WebGrab-FF2 (v.6.0.1). WebGrab is typically found in the FrameForge 3D Folder. Users can gain access to WebGrab-FF2 (v.6.0.1) by reviewing the instructions found in the FREE UPGRADE link below.
